Dapo Abiodun and Ogun Mandate for 2019

Speculation over the chances of Prince Dapo Abiodun becoming the Governor of Ogun State in the 2019 general elections was laid to rest yesterday as people trooped out in numbers, to vote for the candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

At the Ogun APC Presidential Campaign Rally held two weeks ago in Abeokuta, President Buhari left no one in doubt regarding the Party’s Governorship flag bearer, Prince Dapo Abiodun, who enjoys overwhelming popularity among the people of Ogun State. Buhari encouraged people to vote for any candidate of their convictions across Party lines without fear of molestation.

Our correspondents report that incumbent Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun has been quite divisive in a bid to enthrone an alien candidate as the next Governor, in flagrant violation of the Party’s primaries, directives, INEC guidelines and the electoral law. His Excellency, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, Leader of the Party in Ogun State, has pleaded with t members and stakeholders to exercise maturity and restraint, in response to Amosun’s serial provocative acts.

Results of exit polls conducted by SENS Newswire nationwide indicate a landslide victory for President Muhammadu Buhari, with APC leading in swing States and securing popular votes in States previously considered traditional strongholds of the main opposition Party PDP.

Results announced by INEC have confirmed projections, lending credence to widespread perception of the 2019 Presidential and Legislative elections as a very transparent exercise which reflects the will and disposition of the people. APC recorded landslide victory in Ogun State, and presently leads other contenders across the Nation.

President Buhari is expected to win the Presidential election, and attention has already shifted to realignments in several States of the Federation as politicians come to terms with unprecedented losses, occasioned by misinformed perception on the popularity of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his money-driven campaign on the platform of PDP.

The stage is now set for political consolidation and closure towards the determination of who becomes the next Governor in several States of the Federation.

Available statistics suggest Prince Dapo Abiodun will win in Ogun State, but the rancorous antics of incumbent Governor Amosun needs to be contained for a free, fair and peaceful conduct of the Governorship elections.
