Temitayo Agemo-Okuboyejo Renaissance Project will continue to empower communities through the provision of education support services, school uniforms, materials and infrastructure for safety at schools, conducive environment and quality education delivery at all public schools in Ogun State.
Speaking with correspondents earlier in the week, the Executive Director Temitayo Agemo-Okuboyejo disclosed 440 units of school uniforms have been donated to 22 schools across Ado-Odo/Ota of Ogun State in the last couple of weeks, for the benefit of less privileged pupils.
Ogun State Government recently suspended PTA education levy and announced free education at primary and secondary levels in all public schools, following concerns over affordability. In this Covid-19 era, access to basic quality education will become quite elusive in several Nigerian communities over loss of family income, depleted purchasing power, technology disruptions and government policies.
According to Temitayo Agemo-Okuboyejo, the Renaissance project is her core vehicle of giving back to her community. She believes in the power of education for enlightenment, empowerment and enhancement of lives. She wants to keep children motivated for excellence by providing and facilitating necessary educational and material support. That is her sole objective behind the establishment of the Renaissance Community Development Programme.
Most of the public schools in Ogun State are in a generally dilapidated condition. In recognition of this fact, the State government has selected one school per ward for a comprehensive rehabilitation subject to budget constraints. This means every other school in each ward may not attract the government attention they require in the course of this administration.
Inadequate infrastructure is a barrier to school attendance for marginalized groups, including girls and children with disabilities. Education is the bedrock of a nation’s developmental strategy.
With the support being provided by Temitayo Agemo-Okuboyejo Renaissance Project and other well meaning stakeholders, the education sector in Ogun State is expected to significantly attract more investment in infrastructure, quality buildings, better welfare and improved safety among other benefits.
