Youths Murder 16 Soldiers in Delta State

According to Sola, Felix and Tarkaa of Leadership Newspaper, 16 men of the Nigerian Army have been accounted for as killed by Ijaw and Urhobo communities of Delta State.

Our correspondents confirm the incident occured last Thursday 14th day of March 2024, following preliminary deployment of troops on a peace mission to the area led by the Commanding Officer of 181 Amphibious Battalion, Bomadi, after distress calls were received from the communities.

The entire contingent including the Commanding Officer, two Majors and one Captain was ambushed, beheaded and dismembered by irate local youths or terrorists according to initial reports. Bodies are still being recovered as at the time of this report.

The Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, confirmed the troops were deployed for a peacekeeping mission to the two warring communities.
